My S.O. are kind of floaty addicts and even own some of the very high end 8-10 person party islands. We've had the good and bad when it comes to floaties. The Swimline Sunsoft goes into the category of floats we LOVE. This mattress blows up quickly (we use an electric pump, but it would certainly be just fine to use a foot pump). There are two plastic floats inside the fabric cover. For best results, blow the small pillow up completely and situate it in the top portion of the cover so it fits nicely. Then, blow the bottom portion up about 3/4 of the way full. This creates that bean bag effect. You don't really get wet when you use this mattress which is something that I appreciate. This float is extremely stable as well, even when only blown up 3/4 of the way. We had a 9 year old standing on it and riding it like a surfboard over some boat wakes. The fabric is rough when it's new and slightly uncomfortable. However, we've found after 4 or 5 uses, it has softened up tremendously and now it's quite comfortable. There is a hand strap on the top of the float so you can tie it up to a large island float, or for pulling it up out of the water. You will need that strap when pulling it out of the water. It's HEAVY due to the water getting inside the fabric cover. Have no fear though, it drains quickly and even quicker if you unzip the side--the water comes rushing right out. I have every intention of buying another one of these before summer is out. Five star for sure!
