Only surprise was how big it still is rolled up. Basically a 4x1ft log so quite impractical for any basic hike/camping situation. If you’re bringing a bunch of stuff in a vehicle then makes more sense (though not exactly “camping” at that point). I would recommend the Twin size as I’m 6’ and fit fine (the “Twin XL” is $20 more and only 3” longer…as of this writing anyway).I can’t say I grasp the purpose of the Velcro tabs on the sides. They’re scratchy and collect debris but maybe there’s an upside I’m not privy to, like extra stability for those weirdos that like tucked sheets? I don’t know. Join two together? All the Velcro tabs on mine are hook side so that’s out. Whatever, I can always remove them. The bag is cheap and the zipper is definitely going to break pretty quick unless super careful. Didn’t need any special method to rolling it up, unlike some epic sleeping bag experiences I’ve had. The straps on the end of the mattress are somewhat annoying. The strap material is too soft/frictionless, and not as wide as the buckles used so cants and jams. Also tightening is backwards and counterintuitive the way they put it together. But that’s only a factor when putting it away so tolerable. If I use this a lot I’ll likely end up removing the straps and using a bungee cord or something. The buckles clacking around and catching on stuff we’re slightly irksome. But aside from that stuff the actual sleeping part worked just fine. I’ve developed a very picky back as I’ve gotten older—used to be able to pass out on the ground or a bench or whatever—but this thing made sleeping away from home much better. It’s not worth $80 in my opinion but just about everything costs too much lately. I certainly wouldn’t bother spending more on the other ones as they’re likely all the same manufacturer anyway.Comfortable, accurate listed dimensions, no weird smells, packaged well. I wouldn’t count on the waterproofing much, especially after washing, but could always Scotch Guard it or get a vinyl mattress cover if it’s a big issue for you.
