Description
SleepBetter visco-elastic memory foam reduces nighttime tossing and turning to provide a better night's sleep. The innovative, hypo-allergenic material takes its cues from the body's shape--adjusting and contouring to any form. The resulting customized fit distributes weight more evenly and relieves pressure points. It allows for better blood flow so the body makes fewer adjustments in search of a more comfortable position. And to top it off, the temperature-smart, open-cell foam adjusts to keep you warm. Thanks to its therapeutic features, it benefits the bed-confined and is frequently used in hospitals. It is also great for pregnant women, the elderly, and anyone who needs a good night's rest. This product is made in the USA and comes backed by a 5-year warranty. To maximize foam expansion, remove from packaging within 72 hours of receipt. This product arrives very tightly packed. Please unwrap and allow 48 hours for this product to return to its original shape. Being sealed in plastic packaging sometimes traps odors. A few hours of airing usually removes any odor. Due to machine cutting manufacturing processes, there may be slight variances in the dimensions of this product.

I've owned this mattress topper for about 6 weeks now, and I absolutely love it. I purchased it to go on my air bed, which I sleep on every night. As with many air mattresses, the surface of my air bed has "peaks and valleys," apparently designed to make it appear more like a "real" mattress, which make for a fairly uncomfortable sleeping surface. At first I had remedied this with a poly-fill mattress cover, but after about a year I started feeling the bumps again. Hence my search for a new mattress topper.I had no prior experience with memory foam and was very, very hesitant to try it. I have insomnia and I toss and turn a lot when I sleep, and I didn't like the idea that "sinking in" to memory foam might make it harder to turn over when I wanted to turn over. Nevertheless, I decided to give this a try, and after a few nights of adjusting to it, I'm very happy I did! This mattress topper is just squishy enough to be delightful, but not so squishy that moving around is at all difficult. It perfectly smooths out the bumps in the air mattress - I can't feel them at all anymore. It does retain some heat, but I'm a "hot" sleeper and haven't found that to be a problem (I simply don't use my flannel sheets anymore - I no longer need them for warmth).Note that this topper IS, as others have mentioned, several inches shorter than standard mattress sizes (at least in the full size). I don't think that this should be much of an issue for most people, since you don't really need it to go all the way up to the head of your bed anyway as your pillow takes up some of that space, but if you're very tall or like to stretch out you might find it objectionable. There was no odor whatsoever when I first received the mattress topper, although I let it air out and expand for a day anyway.Be aware that this topper does not come with any stretchy grips around the edges to attach it to your mattress - it's JUST the rectangle of memory foam. I'd imagine that if you put your fitted sheet directly on top of it, it probably wouldn't impact performance or "wiggle" around, but it might be a little inconvenient when you're changing your sheets and have to re-position the topper every time. What I did was put an old fitted sheet directly on the mattress surface (to keep it clean and help prevent any microbial growth - probably not necessary, though, I'm just a clean-freak), then placed the memory foam topper on that and positioned it just how I wanted it, then put my poly-fill topper (which DOES have stretchy grips to go around the mattress) on top to keep it in place and have another cushioning layer underneath my regular bedding. This potentially squishes down the memory foam a bit, but not by nearly as much as I would have thought. If you're having doubts, I say go for it. You're not really going to know how it works for you until you try it, and this price-point is great for an experiment. For me, it's been fantastic - my air bed wasn't exactly uncomfortable before, but it's absolute heaven now, and I honestly prefer it to a lot of other mattresses. I love getting into bed at night!I received this mattress pad early yesterday, laid it out on a bed to expand and air out for around 9-10 hours, and when I got home it was flat and ready to go. I never really noticed much of a smell to it. After I got it under the fitted sheet on my futon and flopped down on it, I did notice just a bit of a foam chemical smell for a moment, but it quickly went away. It ended up being just a couple inches short of the edges of my futon mattress all around but as I don't generally sleep right on the edges, I really couldn't care less (and I think it fits better this way under the sheet than it would if it were the exact size of the mattress). The pad is heavy and quite dense, thicker than I expected for a promised 2" pad. Feels like quality to me (I've never used another memory foam product so I have nothing to compare it to).I slept on it last night then took a short nap on it this afternoon. I have to say this pad immensely improved the comfort of my futon, which was all right before but a bit too firm for me. FYI I'm male, 39, only 5'7" and about 145 pounds so I'm small. The 2" size works great for me. I would imagine a very large person would prefer the 3" one. I think the 3" one would have been more difficult to use on my futon since I often set it in sofa mode. (It didn't cause any problems in sofa mode, just conformed nicely to the new shape of the mattress and was quite comfortable to sit on.)I've been having lower back pain and stiffness for several months now, and I suspect it actually started when I switched from sleeping on a regular bed to this futon, which is a good one with a quality 8" foam mattress, but is still very firm and not quite perfectly flat. My back has felt good all day today. I woke up with no soreness or stiffness at all, very refreshed. It was also easier for me to get to sleep last night as any position I tried felt good. I woke up this morning and after my nap feeling like I was nestled in a custom designed cocoon.Overall I'm giving this pad 5 stars for turning my stiff futon into an exceptionally comfortable bed, and at Amazon's great low price I can't complain at all. Great product. I'd highly recommend it for college dorm beds, kid beds, futons, cots, anywhere you need more support and comfort and can't use an expensive, high quality mattress.By the way have you seen how much a Tempurpedic 3" mattress pad costs?? It's like $710 plus $75 shipping!! Really puts this great product in perspective for the price!
