It's nice, but I wish there was more storage room underneath. I wanted to be able to slide my 40in tall bookcases underneath to hide my storage tubs. The listing states the whole frame is 46in tall and recommends a 6in mattress, so I assumed the part the mattress sits in would be 6in deep and leaves 40in underneath. Alas, the mattress part is 12in deep, leaving only 34in of storage space underneath. I am purchasing bedrisers to raise it the rest of the way up.For reference, I am a 180lb, 5'9" adult female. This bed is sturdy. It does not wiggle or sway beneath me. I am comfortable being able to get up and down the "ladder" although I wish there was an open part of the railing above the ladder. I would highly recommend this for adults and children looking to get extra storage or play area in the room.Lastly, I built this frame by myself and boy howdy I sure can tell you that having a second set of hands would be incredibly helpful. There's not that many parts and the instructions were very easy to follow (given that you have some knowledge of building furniture) but because some of the poles are round, the holes didn't always line up perfectly and having to pull and hold the metal poles in place while trying to get the screw in simultaneously could have been an Olympic sport. My hands and back were very sore after the whole endeavor. Having someone there to help would have made building this infinitely easier. If you do end up building this alone, I wish you all the luck in the world!Very good bed for the price, in my opinion! Super easy to assemble for one person alone, even standing it upright and moving it around. Plenty of spare hardware, too! Some things I will HIGHLY suggest for the assembly process: 1, obey the directions. Do not get ahead of yourself, no matter how much you might want to jump the gun and juuust put that ooone little part in before the other. And obey the directions when they tell you not to tighten the screws all they way until you're done. Trust me on this. And 2, no matter what the other reviews say, DO NOT SKIP THE LITTLE GREY SQUARES!!! They are absolutely vital to the integrity and stability of the bed! Prepare your thumbs, because it WILL hurt like hell. Use something to apply pressure to help snap them in that will save your fingers, but DON'T hammer them!!Now, the bed is pretty stable for a loft bed, but could stand to be a lot better, like a thin bar across the floor to keep the front legs a little more secure. The height is great, even for a lower ceiling. I can sit up just fine and not bump my head, and was able to fit a full desk under the bed on one side, and a full size table on the other, with plenty of room for my rolling chair underneath and plenty of head room. It's an INCREDIBLE space saver! My only problems with the bed are that it's scarily wobbly, especially when climbing up. If you have any kind of molding on your baseboard, the bed is going to be a bit further from the wall than you'll want. The L brackets included will not reach, and you'll have to get creative with how you secure it to said wall. Make SURE you secure it to studs only. Even secured though, it's still frighteningly wobbly, so be aware of that. Every tiny movement you make, you WILL feel dramatically in the entirety of the bed. It's very audibly creaky, too. It is the shakiest when climbing up into the bed, and the lack of a dip or space in the railing makes it a bit of an annoying challenge to get in and out of. My other complaint is shared by everyone else in that the ladder rungs are INCREDIBLY narrow, at best approx 5/8ths of an inch diameter, and are very painful on the feet. They're also super smooth and offer zero traction. HOWEVER, my biggest complaint is that the motion of climbing in and out happens to force the rungs to loosen and turn little by little, unscrewing them from the ladder. Climbing up one night, the middle rung turned on its screws and rotated inward like a smooth little conveyor belt roll, flinging my leg through and causing me to fall. If I hadn't had an excellent grip on the top rail at the time, I absolutely would have broken that leg. Thankfully I was only left with a substantial amount of paint. So, daily tightening of the rungs is what I'm reduced to, and considering a contact cement on the bolts. Instead of the pool noodle trick most folks do to make the rungs more comfortable, I instead chose a route of safety, and used reflective-striped non-skid stick-on stuff used for outdoor stairs, cut into strips that fit the rungs and circled them around completely. This way has kept my feet from slipping off and makes me more aware if the rungs start to become slightly loose again. Definitely recommend this trick, especially more than pool noodles which can also themselves spin around the rungs.All-in-all, decent product, even for an adult like me, which is great for anyone who doesn't mind climbing into and out of it. Excellent for anyone in college who needs to save space in small living quarters. I prefer the top bunk in a military barracks to this loft bed, is that says anything, but it's not the worst bed by any means. Definitely recommend it over anything a certain large Swedish store sells for your own assembly. It's the perfect game changer for a tiny room, regardless of your age. Just know that if you have to pee in the middle of the night, you will hate life. If you get thirsty, then it sucks to be you. If you have diarrhea, vomiting, or are drunk, then you're better off sleeping on the floor. Do NOT use ANY amount of haste getting in or out of this bed, period. It's really a pain to get in and out of, due to the height of the railing that sticks up higher than the mattress. If you have male anatomy, you're going to rack it multiple times, and there's no avoiding that. Even as a female, there's no avoiding it. Despite it's flaws, it's actually the best loft bed I've found, especially for the price, after doing a LOT of research. I do recommend it, just beware that nothing is perfect.Cat absolutely loves it.Overall this was easy to assemble with 2 people, and it looks great in the room. The height gives ample seating space underneath and the metal legs are low profile so you retain a lot of floor space. The steps on the bed are AWFUL. I am not a heavy person nor do I have particularly large feet and these ladder rungs are absolutely painful on bare feet. My son climbs into bed in his sneakers and tosses them to the floor once he’s in bed! The bed rail extends in front of the ladder so you have to climb over the rail. Finally, because it’s so top heavy we secured it to the wall with nylon straps and anchors. I would highly recommend doing this, it likely won’t topple but it does wobble without the anchors which is an unsettling feeling. Securing it will make it more comfortable. So I received my son's bed and was missing a piece so I requested the piece that I was missing. Because it was on back order I was sent a entire brand new bed and told I could just donate or throw away the old one.... since receiving the new bed and assembling it I absolutely adore it for my son it's stable, has cute shelves, and a mini desk. I would definitely buy again if I ever had to but I definitely recommend.I have had this bed for about a month or so. I assembled it mostly by myself though I had to ask my roommate for help at the very end to connect the two halves of the frame. I didn't put the safety guards on the outside because my mattress is actually too big for the frame (it's a queen) If I did I would be able to mount it to the wall with the included material. The biggest flaw is the ladder. It is too small for an adult and the rungs tend to unscrew when you climb it. I currently use a tall chair to get in and out of bed.Overall: I'm glad I bought it. It's a great deal for the price and I feel safe and comfortable sleeping in it.I'm an adult man 5"11, 180 lbs. A little wobbly getting up, but feels safe once I'm up there. Great for saving space. I stuck a couch underneath and space wise this was a great decision. Only complaint is the ladder is a little rough on the feet.We bought this to maximize the sleeping spaces in our tiny mobile home bedrooms. Were able to squish a Twin XL mattress into it, but it really takes a Twin.Pros: - ladders at both ends of bed make it versatile for positioning - it can fit over a queen bed. Inside Length is 78", so if your queen is not longer than this, it may be able to fit length wise over the bed, as well as over the head. - light enough that it can be moved quite easily around once it is assembled. - straightforward assembly (my husband did it singlehandedly) - no defects in paint or otherwiseCons: - not sure an adult would feel secure sleeping on it. It wobbled a lot when I (155 lb. woman) climbed up on it to make the bed - the ladder is a bit tricky to dismount from with the rail going all around the entire circumference, rails may be a bit hard on tender feetMissing parts upon delivery. Did not have one of the side pieces!!! Contacted both Amazon customer service and Walker Edison and neither would replace the part or allow for a return/refund of the productNeedless to say it cannot be put together and cannot be used safely. It is a very expensive lesson for us. Do not buyI’m very disappointed because the advertisement does not mention that there is no workstation! I assumed there was no mattress so I let that go but I need the workstation. I’ve looked everywhere on Amazon and I’ve even called the manufacturer and nobody is going back to me. The pictures show a workstation and there is no workstation included, at the end of the day, it’s just a 6 foot piece of steel that screws in but it’s nowhere to be found, also, when assembling this product, I suggest you wear gloves because the screws are not of the best quality and that tool they provide keeps slipping outThis bed is very sturdy and we've now had it for 4 years. Because it's a metal construction, there is a bit of squeaking, especially from the top bunk, which is noticeable for the person on the bottom bunk. Movement on the top bunk causes a fair bit of squeaking noise for sure. I've regularly tightened screws and sprayed them with WD40 but not managed to rectify this problem, however the metal poles meet metal poles and so a bit of squeaking is perhaps unavoidable. The height to the upper level is a bonus as it's possible to sit up fully. An adult can sit upright under the bed without bumping their heads. So it's nice to be able to read books in the bottom bunk. The ladder is metal and the ladder steps are quite narrow poles so not the easiest to climb and my son says they're a little uncomfortable on his feet, but the upside is they deter and perhaps even prevent him from racing up and down the ladder too quickly. It did take a long time to assemble this bunk bed - probably 5-6 hours with two people building. But I've moved house twice since building this, and it goes up and down extremely easily for the purpose of moving. However this week, one of the middle leg supports on the bottom bump, seen in photo, has snapped off. I don't know how important it is. My son is still only 7 years old so he's not heavy. A regular wooden bed has only 4 legs with no middle supports, and the slats are enough to support a mattress. I'm therefore a little concerned whether there's an issue now and whether the bed is supportive enough. It has highlighted an issue about contact with the seller. Since 4 years has passed since buying this, my 'correspondence window' with the seller through the Amazon site has now closed, so I don't know how to get hold of the seller. Looking back at my order, in the returns/ report a problem section of the site, I discovered that I had the opportunity to contact the seller for maybe a couple of months for information or support. After that, the option was taken away. So it's worth being aware that buying through a site like Amazon is limiting if you need to contact the seller for help beyond the couple of months. If I'd bought this from a regular shop, I'd still be able to return to the store. Overall I would recommend this product, but hope to get more years of use out of it. I was expecting my son to use it for at least another 3-4 years. I hope the seller might read this and let me know if that's the case.
